2014 is now upon us and you may have been aware of many articles and headings in the media about “Blue Monday” and “Divorce Monday” and that this is supposed to be the most depressing week of the new year. This is because the next few months can be considered to be the busiest time of the year for family and matrimonial solicitors as they see new clients who are going through a separation. Couples may decide to get through Christmas first for the sake of the children for example and then decide “new year new start” and seek legal advice in the New Year.

At Susan Howarth & Co, we like to take a positive and realistic approach when advising in relation to children and financial matters when couples separate, which is also affordable as we empathise with the financial constraints people may have this time of the year.

For those seeking legal advice, we offer initial fixed-fee half hour appointments as well as a free drop in clinic out of hours during the week where no appointment is necessary.

We offer fixed fee products so that you know exactly what you are paying for with no hidden costs and for those wanting to divorce and to deal with the procedure themselves without instructing solicitors, we offer a fixed fee one hour DIY divorce session at our office. The next session is due to take place on Tuesday 28th January 2014 at 5:30pm. Please contact Sarah Curbishley for further information about this particular product.

If however you feel that you do not want to instruct solicitors and would prefer to have a round table meeting with your ex-partner and an independent 3rd party who can help you resolve the issues in a faster, more amicable and cost effective way, then we do have a Mediator here who can assist. Please contact Vicky Poole for further information about Mediation.

Please call our offices on 01606 48777 or email for any information about our services, products and fees.
