Thank you for looking at our Family Law services.
The family law solicitor or fee earner dealing with your matter will discuss with you the various options that we can offer to you for payment of fees and what would be appropriate given the circumstances in your case.
At your initial meeting we will provide you with an estimate of our costs based upon our hourly rate.
We offer fixed fee packages for undefended divorce proceedings, wills and severance of joint tenancy; and subject to the circumstances of your case for financial disclosure and negotiations leading to a Separation Agreement or Consent Order on divorce; Pre-Nuptial Agreement, or Court proceedings.
Alternatively, you may wish to instruct us to undertake specific and limited aspects of work e.g. advising on financial settlement following disclosure; or limited to preparing legal documents. We are able to advise and prepare documents for you in the background, whilst you represent yourself through court proceedings as a litigant in person if you do not want to incur the cost of full representation.
In all cases we would provide you with a Summary of Work in which we will set out clearly the work that we will undertake for you and the cost.
We hold a Legal Aid franchise for domestic abuse, care and mediation.
You may believe that legal aid is no longer available for family law and that consequently you cannot afford a solicitor or a barrister to advise or represent you at court. This may not be the case.
Legal aid is still available, if you are eligible, for the following areas of family law:
- Domestic abuse
- Social service involvement with your children
- Where the person needing legal aid is a child under the age of 18 who is a party to family proceedings.
To identify whether you are eligible to obtain legal aid through us, you can either refer to the Legal Aid website or alternatively, discuss it with your lawyer during a free 30-minute appointment* or one of our free weekly drop-in Family Law clinics.
