Robert Clutton

Advanced Paralegal

Graduating into a legal career through hands-on experience, Robert began his journey in law in 2013 at Hall Smith Whittingham. Following his apprenticeship, he moved into the Care Department in June 2015 - it was here that Robert discovered his passion for family public law, going on to begin his CILEx qualification in May 2017. Now a Graduate Member of CILEx and an Advanced Paralegal, Robert is currently working towards Fellowship.

Joining the Family Law Department (Care Team) at Susan Howarth & Company in January 2026, Robert brings with him over a decade of practical experience and a strong commitment to supporting vulnerable clients. Specialising in family public law and care proceedings, he has worked with a wide range of individuals, including those with learning disabilities and complex needs.

Highly dedicated and client-focused, Robert finds the most rewarding aspect of his role is being able to make a genuine difference, with his clients often recognising the effort and care he puts into their case. His calm, considered approach and strong sense of empathy make him a valued member of the team.

Outside of work, Robert enjoys spending time with family and friends – whether that’s dining out, popping to the theatre or getting out for a good stomp!

A fan of film and literature, his favourites include The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Notting Hill, and Eye in the Sky, alongside books such as Stone Cold by C J Box and The Lost Boy by Dave Pelzer.

When it comes to downtime, you might find Robert exercising or indulging in his guilty pleasures — chips, cheese and gravy, or a glass of black sambuca.
