Dealing with divorce can be hard enough without the added stress of costs escalating beyond your means.
Legal Aid is no longer available to pay the legal costs of divorce (unless there’s been domestic abuse or child abduction), so the divorce process can be even more difficult, perhaps impossible, if you are on a low income.
However, at SH&Co. we firmly believe that everyone has the right to justice and legal services, no matter what they earn.
This means providing the same highly professional divorce service and the benefits of our experienced staff, at a lower cost and with more affordable payment plan options.
If you are receiving Income Support, Income-Related Employment and Support Allowance, Income Based Job Seekers Allowance, Universal Credit or Guarantee Credit, you will be eligible for our Fixed Fee Low Cost Divorce Service:
Legal Aid for Mediation
Legal Aid is still available for family mediation for people on a low income or receiving benefits.
This means your fees to the local mediation provider will be paid for you, and you will be able to access free legal advice whilst you are in mediation. If only one of you is eligible for Legal Aid, the fees for the first information session (MIAM) for the other person will be paid by Legal Aid.
For more information about these services or to check if you are eligible to use them, call us now on 01606 48777. Alternatively, you can either pop into one of our FREE weekly Family Law drop-in clinics or book a FREE 30-minute appointment*.
*Available to all new Family Law clients.
