My husband/wife/partner wants a divorce

You will be eligible for our Fixed Fee Low Cost Divorce Service if you receive any of the following:

  • Income Support, or
  • Income-Related Employment and Support Allowance, or
  • Income Based Job Seekers Allowance, or
  • Universal Credit, or
  • Guarantee Credit

To qualify for the service, you must bring to your first appointment evidence from the Benefits Agency of the benefits you get. Any letter or documentation from the DSS must not be more than 28 days old on the date of that appointment.

Standard Service Divorce Fee Packages

If someone is divorcing you and you do not wish to challenge the divorce proceedings, and the proceedings are straightforward with no issues arising, these proceedings fall into our Standard Fixed Fee Low Cost Service.

Respondent Divorce Package £200 + VAT

This service includes advice on divorce papers already served upon you, completing the necessary paperwork and forwarding to you the Decree when received.

Respondent Divorce & Will Package £350 + VAT

This service includes advice on divorce papers already served upon you, completing the necessary paperwork and forwarding to you the Decree when received, plus the preparation of a basic single Will and registration with Certainty.

Respondent Divorce, Severance of Tenancy & Will Package £475 + VAT

This service includes advice on divorce papers already served upon you, completing the necessary paperwork and forwarding to you the Decree when received. The preparation, service and registration of Notice of Severance of Joint Tenancy and the preparation of a basic single Will and registration with Certainty.

The above packages do not include any complications arising within the proceedings which will be charged separately and additionally – examples of such extras are referred to below.

Additional Fees:

  1. Preparing Rider to Acknowledgement of Service - £75.00 plus VAT
  2. Completing and filing an additional Acknowledgment of Service in respect of an amended or second petition - £ 50.00 plus VAT
  3. Negotiating the issue of claim for Divorce costs through solicitors (limited to 2 letters) - £50.00 plus VAT
  4. Preparing and filing application for Decree Absolute by Respondent - £100.00 plus VAT
  5. Filing Defence and / or Cross Petition - * Items 5,6 & 7 will be quoted separately dependent on the extent of the issues in dispute and outside of the fixed fee scheme
  6. Attendance at Court for any hearing (not usually necessary in Divorce) *
  7. Divorce proceedings where conduct is relevant to the financial claim *

Necessary Disbursements (incurred by the Court);

  1. Court fee for filing Defence and / or Cross Petition - £245.00                                                                      
  2. Court fee for an Application for an Order without Notice - £50.00
  3. Court fee for an Application for an Order on Notice - £155.00
