Qualifying as a solicitor in 1993, Susan has over 25 years’ experience specialising in all aspects of Family Law, with a passion for family finances and expertise in divorce,domestic abuse and the Children’s Act cases.

Susan established Susan Howarth & Company in 1997 and remains Director and Head of Family Law.

Susan’s extensive knowledge, experience, understanding and compassion has been gained from her work in family law in addition to her prior work in the fields of probation, psychiatric and child abuse social work, and voluntarily with victims of domestic abuse spanning more than 20 years.

Susan has always believed that everyone has the right to access justice and helping get client’s lives back on track is what matters most.

Susan has been a member of the Law Society Family Law Panel since 1999 and is the practice Supervisor for WIQS accreditation.

Recognised as a Leading Individual by The Legal 500 UK Solicitors for 4 consecutive years, Susan was then inducted into The Legal 500 Hall of Fame in 2023, as 1 of only 7 individuals for Family Law (North West). Susan has also been ranked as a Notable Practitioner by the Chambers & Partners UK Legal Directory for 2 consecutive years.

Married for over 45 years, Susan has two children, five grandchildren, one border collie and one moggie - life is full! Always on the go, Susan enjoys gardening, walking the dog, spending time with her grandchildren and skiing. Susan cooks a mean roast lamb and to relax she enjoys watching Emmerdale, Escape to the Country or indulging in one of her favourite films - The Inn of the 6th Happiness or Dirty Dancing.
