Now
my son has divorced, my ex-daughter-in-law won`t let me see my grandchildren.
What can I do about it?
Depending on the circumstances it may be possible to apply to the Court for permission
to bring an application for contact to your
grandchildren. The Court would order statements to be filed and perhaps order
a Welfare Report and then make a decision based on what is in the best interests
of the children.

I`ve
got a new partner. Can he adopt my children?
In the short term the answer is probably not - at least until you have been together
a year but there may be other ways to secure the childrens position such as a
residence order, a change of name deed and a Will to insure financial provision
in the event of death. All these may be options in individual circumstances and
adoption could be considered later.

My daughter has
gone off the rails and I`m afraid Social Services are going to remove her children.
What can I do about it?
Social Services have a duty to protect children and can apply to Court for care
orders but they and the Court will look to see if there is a suitable family
member who can care for the children as an alternative to foster parents. Care
proceedings are invariably lengthy and very complex and legal advice is needed
at the earliest opportunity - preferably at the start of Social Services concerns
rather than when proceedings have already started.
